The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to present an intimate conversation and performance with The Hold Steady, at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY. The conversation will be moderated by Emmy Award-winning writer and host of NBC’s “Late Night,” Seth Meyers, and will include a discussion about the band’s career and 20th anniversary, their new album The Price of Progress, their creative process, musical influences, their first ever book, and more. The band will also perform a few songs.

The Hold Steady is one of many artists to be featured in the GRAMMY Museum’s new New York City program series, which includes bringing a slate of the GRAMMY Museum’s renowned GRAMMY In The Schools Education Programs and Public Programs to the East Coast in partnership with the City of New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. “A New York Evening With…” is generously supported by the Dawn and Brian Hoesterey Family Foundation. 

ABOUT THE HOLD STEADY:

The Price of Progress arrives as The Hold Steady mark the 20th anniversary of their foundation, bringing new ideas, sounds, and textures to a still-evolving canon of nine studio album releases that began with 2004’s Almost Killed Me. The Price of Progress stands as the band’s most sonically expansive record thus far while also remaining unmistakably The Hold Steady, showcasing narrative rock ‘n’ roll tales of ordinary people struggling and surviving in a modern world. The album was produced by longtime collaborator Josh Kaufman at The Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, NY, and mixed by D. James Goodwin. Alongside the album, Akashic Books is publishing The Gospel of The Hold Steady: How A Resurrection Really Feels, an oral history by Michael Hann and The Hold Steady, which will be released July 25. Both the album and book are available via theholdsteady.net, with multiple vinyl options and exclusive book packages. The Hold Steady will also be appearing at the WFUV Highline Bash the next day, May 12, at City Winery NYC, in support of public radio.
