Cured: The Tale Of Two Imaginary Boys

With The Cure Co-Founder Lol TolhurstIn his new memoir titled Cured: The Tale Of Two Imaginary Boys (out Oct. 11 on De Capo Press), The Cure’s co-founder, co-songwriter and lifelong friend of lead singer Robert Smith, Laurence “Lol” Tolhurst, threads the genesis of one of the most critically acclaimed bands of modern times through his adolescence with Smith, the iconic leader of the group, to their stratospheric rise. For the first time in the band’s 40-year history, here is the incredible story of The Cure — virtual inventors of alternative music — from someone who was there at the very beginning. A must-read for both diehards and the uninitiated, Lol’s story highlights the parts of a creative trek that are not normally revealed to fans, as the founding “imaginary boy” takes readers on his personal odyssey from suburban London to the Mojave desert and across the miles of love, addiction, pain, forgiveness and ultimately, redemption, experienced in-between. In time with the release of his memoir, the GRAMMY Museum welcomes Laurence “Lol” Tolhurst to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation, moderated by Lyndsey Parker, Managing Editor for Yahoo Music.
