The Drop: Corinne Bailey Rae

Two-time GRAMMY winner Corinne Bailey Rae released her self-titled debut album in 2006, reaching No. 1 in the UK and No. 4 in the U.S. The album featured the global hits “Put Your Records On” and “Like A Star.” Bailey Rae won her first GRAMMY in 2007 for Album Of The Year as a guest on Herbie Hancock’s River: The Joni Letters. Her second GRAMMY came in 2011 for Best R&B Performance for “Is This Love.” In May, Bailey Rae returned with her third studio album and first full-length set in six years, The Heart Speaks In Whispers which debuted No. 3 on Billboard’s R&B chart. Featuring “Been To The Moon,” “The Skies Will Break” and “Green Aphrodisiac,” NPR named it one of the 30 albums of the year so far. The album has gained worldwide acclaim, already garnering four- and five-star reviews. Recorded both at her studio in Leeds and in Los Angeles at Capitol Studios, the album was co-produced by Bailey Rae with Steve Brown, who collaborated on her critically acclaimed 2010 album The Sea, and features a number of notable musicians, including Paris and Amber Strother from KING, Best New Artist GRAMMY winner Esperanza Spalding, James Gadson (Bill Withers), Pino Palladino (D’Angelo and The Vanguard), and Marcus Miller (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Luther Vandross). Most recently, she released a song for NASA to celebrate the historical JUNO spacecraft entering the orbit of Jupiter; was featured alongside The Roots and Lenny Kravitz in a PSA for the International Olympic Committee; performed at various festivals in the UK and Europe, including Glastonbury; joined Lionel Richie on his UK arena tour; and was special guest supporting Stevie Wonder at his Hyde Park, London concert alongside Pharrell Williams, for a crowd of over 60,000. Currently readying to head out on a U.S. tour in August and September, which includes headlining dates, festival dates, and dates with Alabama Shakes, the GRAMMY Museum welcomes Corinne Bailey Rae to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation on her new album and career, moderated by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares. The conversation will be followed by a special performance.
