The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome 3x GRAMMY-awarded artist Olivia Rodrigo to the Museum’s 200-seat Clive Davis Theater for a special evening featuring an intimate conversation celebrating Olivia’s critically acclaimed sophomore album, GUTS. Moderated by songwriter and GRAMMY-award nominated producer Linda Perry, the conversation will discuss Olivia’s career, creative process, and more, with a short performance to follow.
ABOUT OLIVIA RODRIGO:
Hailed by The New York Times as ”a songwriter of rather astonishing purity,” Olivia Rodrigo took up piano at age seven and began crafting her own lyrics at 12. On her record-breaking, culture-defining debut album SOUR, she offered up a wildly resonant account of her very first heartbreak. Featuring her 5x Platinum breakthrough single “drivers license,” SOUR made history as the longest-running debut album on the Billboard 200 top 10 this century, landed at No. 1 on Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Albums of 2021 list, and earned Rodrigo three GRAMMY® awards.
At 20, she released her highly anticipated sophomore album GUTS – a body of work that magnified the raw power of her genre-bending sound while delving deeper into her vast and vivid inner world. “I love how that word can be used in so many ways—‘hate your guts,’ ‘spill your guts,’ ‘guts’ as a synonym for ‘courage,’” she explained. “All those meanings are so different from each other, but I completely resonate with every one of them.”
Rodrigo reunited with SOUR producer Daniel Nigro to record GUTS, praised as an “instant classic” by Rolling Stone, a “masterpiece” by the Los Angeles Times and “bitingly charismatic” by Pitchfork. An auspicious introduction to the next era of Rodrigo’s career, GUTS’ lead single “vampire” revealed her profound evolution as a lyricist. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2023 and returned to the top spot in September 2023 – coinciding with the No. 1 debut of GUTS on the Billboard 200 and Olivia on the Artist 100, thereby giving Rodrigo a chart triple. The album’s 11 other tracks all appeared in the top 40 of the Hot 100.All 11 songs on Rodrigo’s debut, SOUR hit the Hot 100’s top 40 in 2021 as well. Rodrigo becomes the first artist to chart all songs from two career-opening albums in the Hot 100’s top 40. GUTS also topped the album charts in over thirteen countries including the UK, Canada, Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand.
Rodrigo will launch her first-ever arena tour in February 2024.
