Glen Hansard is an Academy Award winning singer songwriter, and principal vocalist/guitarist for the bands, The Frames and The Swell Season. Over the years, Hansard has earned a reputation as not only an unparalleled front man, but also for his dedicated following and his grounded, real-life songs. In 2007 Hansard and Czech songstress Markéta Irglová took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for Falling Slowly off the Once soundtrack. The same year the song and the soundtrack were also nominated for a GRAMMY Award. Hear Hansard in discussion about his musical career, including the making of his 2012 release, Rhythm and Repose. Over twenty years in the making, the album was Hansard’s first ever solo album and garnered attention from Billboard calling the album “Hansard at his most engaging.” After the discussion, moderated by President of The GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares Scott Goldman, Hansard will take audience questions and perform a selection of songs.
