Join us as we celebrate an evening with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Jaimoe, in the Clive Davis Theater discussing his iconic career as a drummer and percussionist. Jaimoe first rose to prominence in the R&B world, backing for Otis Redding’s tour in 1966. In 1969, he became the first recruit to join the Allman Brothers Band, blending the sounds of blues, country, jazz and rock. After critical and commercial success, Jaimoe went on to lead his own jazz-rock collective known as Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band. Jaimoe became a recipient of the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and is recognized as one the early pioneers responsible for the newly named genre, jam bands, whose musical improvisation cross music genre boundaries. Hosted by Vice President of The GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares, Scott Goldman, Jaimoe will be performing live (with his Jasssz Band) selections from their debut studio album Renaissance Man and taking questions from the audience.
