On View - May 30, 2012 - May 30, 2012

To help celebrate the launch of his latest album, Older Than My Old Man Now , join us as we welcome singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III to The GRAMMY Museum. Wainwright wrote his first song in 1968, Edgar and was soon signed to Atlantic Records by Nesuhi Ertegun. He soon came to fame when Dead Skunk became a Top 20 hit in 1972. His recording career now consists of 25 albums and Wainwright’s songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs and Rufus Wainwright, among many others. He has collaborated to create the music for the hit movie Knocked Up, written music for the British theatrical adaptation of the Carl Hiaasen novel Lucky You and composed topical songs for NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered and ABC’s Nightline. Also an accomplished actor, Wainwright has appeared in films directed by Martin Scorsese, Tim Burton and Cameron Crowe among others and starred on TV in M.A.S.H. and Undeclared. After an interview with Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares Scott Goldman, Wainwright will take questions and perform a selection of songs.
