Celebrating the Music of Moana 2 with Barlow & Bear

 MODERATED BY ZACH SANG

The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to celebrate the music behind Moana 2 in the museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater with a discussion with GRAMMY Award-winning artists Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear about the creative process behind the soundtrack and a live performance.

After the explosive success (60M+ likes & 250M+ views on TikTok) of their ultra-viral The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical Album, which earned the #1 spot on the U.S. iTunes pop charts, won the 2022 GRAMMY Award for the Best Musical Theater Album, received acclaim from NPR, Variety, and PAPER, and landed Barlow & Bear on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, the musical duo is back in the studio to co-write the soundtrack for Disney’s highly anticipated sequel Moana 2, coming November 27th. This incredible accomplishment has made them the youngest female duo to write a full soundtrack for a Disney Animation feature.

When she was 9 years old, her mentor Quincy Jones produced her chart-topping original jazz album, Diversity. Last year, Emily scored the soundtrack for the film Dog Gone, starring Rob Lowe, which became the No. 1 film for Netflix worldwide and also toured with Beyoncé on the Renaissance World Tour as her pianist. Emily is a founding member of the Recording Academy’s Songwriters & Composers Wing and she has raised millions of dollars for charities through events and performances. Emily has multiple musical projects in the works across theater, film & TV in addition to her own solo album.

As both an artist and songwriter, Abigail blends her musical theater storytelling, clever lyricism, and killer hook sensibility to craft songs across genres that are brought together by her singular vision. She is a passionate advocate for songwriters’ equity in the music industry and is a proud independent artist.
