Reel to Reel: Ron Delsener Presents

The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome the West Coast premiere screening of Ron Delsener Presents and a panel discussion featuring Ron Delsener, Director/Producer Jake Sumner, Members of Kiss Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley, and Manager Doc McGhee to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater.

For generations of New Yorkers, perhaps no three words are as intermingled with iconic New York concerts as “Ron Delsener Presents” – the words that preceded the name of every major act playing New York in advertisements across the city. Ron Delsener Presents is equal parts all-access pass to New York’s greatest gigs, as told by the legendary concert promoter and impresario Ron Delsener, and a portrait of a relentless music business pioneer who can’t stop Hustling.

ABOUT RON DELSENER PRESENTS

In a career spanning sixty years, concert promoter and impresario Ron Delsener was the name behind virtually every major contemporary music concert in New York City for generations. From promoting the Beatles at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, to bringing David Bowie to Carnegie Hall and Patti Smith to the Palladium, to somehow convincing Simon and Garfunkel to bury the hatchet and play the biggest concert of all time in Central Park, Ron Delsener was behind it all.

Through a portrait of a mercurial and relentless showman, Ron Delsener Presents takes us behind-the-curtain through the last half century of the live music business, chronicling the tactics that drove live performance from disorganized, low-fi nightclubs to international tours, arenas, stadiums, and, eventually, into a global empire. A transformation that Delsener is in many ways responsible for. Working in a business he helped to create Ron Delsener now in the later stages of his life, still has his hand in the game. Sure, he could stop – he maybe even should but Ron doesn’t know how.

The holder of this ticket is granted admission to the indicated facility for the purpose of viewing the specified event. This ticket is for use by the holder only and the holder is bound by this policy. This ticket is not transferable and may not be sold, otherwise conveyed or used for any other purpose, including promotion or commercial, without the prior written consent of The Recording Academy. If this ticket is sold, otherwise conveyed or used in violation of this policy, it will be deemed revoked and void, and its holder deemed a trespasser at all Recording Academy events. This ticket is a revocable license and admission may be refused by refunding the face amount of the ticket or ejection may occur for failure to comply with any facility rule. The holder agrees not to transmit or aid in transmitting any description, picture, recording or reproduction of the event. The holder acknowledges that the event may be captured and recorded by audio, audiovisual, and/or photographic means, and hereby grants permission to utilize the holder’s image and/or voice in any and all media now known or hereafter devised to further the interests and mission of the Recording Academy.
